This is, in the British style, 20 10 2020, or in the American, 10 20 2020.  The election in the U.S. is getting critical.  20 is the Tarot card of Judgment or Final Judgment.  

However, I am trying to eliminate politics from these reports.  We have our individual lives apart from the noise and tumult.  

Tuesday:

Are you taking an optimistic or pessimistic view of human love these days, or of loves in your life? We have "A well-favored woman, but of evil aspect, standing before a mirror."  This is said to indicate Sensuousness.  Sepharial warns that "unless one urges a strong moral resistance to instincts one will incur shame and dishonor through alliance with the opposite sex."  This fits, perhaps, Venus's tri-septile with Mars and opposition with Neptune, yet she also enjoys trines with Jupiter, Pluto and Saturn.  In Virgo, she may be naturally restrained, yet longing for adventure.  The T square in cardinal signs may precipitate us rather into the Gloom of "a dark pool of water in the shadow of dense foliage."   This could be fatalistic melancholy devoid of ambition or brilliance.  Yet "underneath are the everlasting arms."  

Charubel says we might be aware of, connect with, or even BE "a man among men.  One who will spontaneously elicit the goodwill and plaudits of his fellow-men."  Of course this could be "a woman among women."  "Thousands will look up to her for light and guidance."  You may sense what this means in the final few hours before the moon goes void-of-course (time above).  Humanity is "seeking to bridge the span of knowledge" according to the Sabian symbols. That means "making itself a practical instrument for the accumulated experience or perfected wisdom which has built and supports the world in which it lives" (Dr. Jones). This can be through sound reasoning, sometimes. 

"The magic carpet" presents a panorama of idealistic potentialities.  It might fly down to pick one up from the "dark pool of water" or melancholy.  One can choose one's place and endowment from what one samples in the panorama.  Then one has earned or inherited "a royal coat of arms," or "authority implicit in the very fact of existence."  Prerogatives and privileges come to each individual in varying forms.

Would you rather be "an ape seated before a mirror" or "an ostrich"?  Neither image is flattering on the surface.  The ostrich is pompous, lofty in appearance and assuming he is a hero, but he "despises the ideas of another and has none of his own."  The ape at least is facing herself honestly, perhaps imagining ways of being an actor, imitating others, being an egotistical mimic.  That is creative.  

Questions of money are significant.  You may wonder if you are miserly, or if someone else is.  He, she, or you might be mercenary while making notable speculations.  Mars square Jupiter while Mercury is retrograde warns against betting the farm on any "promising" deal.  Conservative money management is better. You are focused on yourself, of course, yet also on expressing yourself among those who might applaud you.  "A man in the midst of brightening influences" receives encouragement from multiple sources, and is responsive to it.

The more reserved side of you is reasonably cautious, yet there is an urge toward "a rough journey" for which one is "equipped, belted and armed."  This could be more an inquisitive mind-journey than a physical one, arising from fearless and aggressive impulses.  Some ideal of what one wants to live out is suggested by "A man with a crown on his head and a spear in his hand."  He has "dignity, valor, and humanity combined."

I hear that people lose friends over politics these days, and I seem to be dangerously close to that myself.  Charubel gives a symbol for today which suggests "thinking slightingly of one's best friends" or "neglecting to confide in them."  Some will "pander to the popular taste" yet eventually "suffer from the public."  All the contradictions are summed up in "An eagle and a large white dove turning one into the other."  We shape our fate according to our ideals.  Can we do that adeptly?

"A strong man, a knight of the field" is not confined to presidential candidates, but which of them one chooses is obviously at issue.  Which "will be steadfast in defense of his rights and those of his country"?  Personally, you may be snatching victory from the tense aspects including the sun's exact square with Saturn today.  What you fear could be upon you but alertness plus caution can give you the victory.  As for alertness, "a ouija board" is available as "effective anticipation" by whatever means you favor.  Your cleverness and acumen channel answers.

We may be ascending "a spiral staircase in a dark enclosure, with sunshine at the top."  There seem small returns for our busy-ness, yet eventually good luck.  Late tonight and tomorrow seem much better (as shown by data above).  "A white-headed man surrounded by happy children" suggests homey-ness and benevolence, prosperity and peace.  One feels pleased to guard the interests of those younger or less mature.

Things may seem "gummed up" because of a New Moon within the Via Combusta segment of the zodiac together with the |difficult third of the week|.  The sun closing in on a square with Saturn is rather morose or depressing.  "A volcano in eruption" is what seems to be happening in politics, with accusations and counter-accusations.  Maybe we need to calm down and take a day of relative rest, as suggested by "information in the symbol of an autumn leaf."  

"A pugilist entering the ring" needs no comment, as appropriate for both the political competitions and near-fist-fights over methods of dealing with the virus, raging against the shutdown of normal activities. Venus however is forming a trine with the three Capricorn planets and this could be some easeful good fortune, as "a person being carried by four men in a sedan chair."  This could be a bit of self-indulgence.

It indeed looks as if all depends on how we deal with the stressful and angry aspects during this New Moon.  At the best, we could be like "an old man cutting grapes in a vineyard" because we have been prudent enough to take care of business with an eye to the future.  Libra can be a sign of beauty and if it, with the aid of the good Venus aspects, wins out over the stressful Aries-Capricorn squares, we could be on "an elevated promontory crowned with variously colored flowers."  This is light-headed relationships, personal charm, and attractiveness.

P. S.  Mercury retrograde, as of Tuesday evening, has been evident to me in my neighbors, who have been upset by various factors in their lives and doing "out of pattern" things which pulled me away from my own routines.  That's okay with me, because knowing about MR's tricks, I was able to adapt myself much more smoothly than if I hadn't known.  Also, one good thing was that I researched something about a possible purchase of a tablet for (mostly) reading and consulted a friend who has one, who gave me excellent advice.  Yet, with MR, I am not even sure I will follow it up, yet I feel relieved to know what he told me.  It can be a REsearch time, and sometimes RElief.

Some factors look blasé or boring, and we are in the final days of an Old Moon before the New on Friday, and Mercury went retrograde last night (for three weeks).  Where is the oomph?  One of the symbols indicates a graveyard, but this usually means thoughts of what lies beyond death and can be uplifting.  "An ape seated before a mirror" is contemplating the vanity of life, wondering what it all means, but ready to imitate what he or she senses as interesting behavior.  

"A pugilist entering the ring" is living out Mars's opposition with the sun.  The ego needs to be triumphant in one way or another.  Therefore we exert ourselves, perhaps at home but in connection with career hopes or whatever elevates our status.  When we've done what we can, we hear "a hidden choir singing" assuring us of the ideality of our experiences and hopes, even of "a power for the good of all" which can ascend toward worship of the Highest. 

There is an urge to wander or explore, though this may be mostly in the mind.  "The clear purple sky covered with stars" is the roof of one who doesn't stay long in one place but makes discoveries everywhere.  A desire to feel one's merit makes one want to be hospitable, like "a strong and prosperous-looking man standing with arms extended, holding in his hands a bowl full of wine."  People have needs, and shared pleasure is one of them, which can be healing.  Steadfastness and sincerity bring respect.

The Bouncy, Friendly Generation, now 12-25 years old, Pluto in Sagittarius

Bouncy, Friendly Kids and Young People:

The Pluto in Sagittarius generation, born from November 1995 through November 2008, thirteen years. Their current ages are 12 through 25:

What are the media calling this group? I can't keep up. Generation x, y, z? I just call them the Sagittarius generation because it seems that Pluto, the slowest moving planet in our system marks off the generations more cogently than any other planet. (One could also categorize generations by Neptune and Uranus.)

I'm going to call them the bouncy-friendly generation.

The previous generation was Pluto in Scorpio, born September 1984 through October 1995, eleven years. Current ages 26 through 36.

I have noticed that styles in music are the sharpest way to distinguish the generations. Pluto in Cancer was the '40s-'50s "crooners" when pop music was heavily sentimental. Pluto in Leo was the Beatles and what came after, heavy or light rock and the like. Pluto in Scorpio has been, to my mind, rather morose often, weighty, with huge numbers of death themes, like Five Finger Death Punch; it has also been gangsta rap. But sometimes Christian rap and gangsta rap are mixed up together, as in Big Sean (born1988), Kendrick Lamar (1987) and many others. Their fantastic track Holy Key (produced by DJ Khaled) is an excellent example of this genre at its best. They need to hit the deep stuff, the anger or agony and pain,, sometimes mixed with humor or sarcasm, sometimes with real pathos. Avicii, one of my favorites, even took his name from the Buddhist name of Hell, though his music is not as morose as most emanating from his generation. (Sadly, he took his own life I believe.)

A few years ago when the Sagittarius generation was in its late teens I was asking myself, When will their music hit the scene? And what will it be like? Well, I said to myself, it will be bouncy and friendly. Alive and sweet, serene or cheerful, in contrast to the Pluto-in-Scorpio soul-searching stuff. Lorde was the first Pluto-in-Sag female singer to hit the big time, it seems, and her first album was bouncy and fairly cheery. Her second album was a flop. Justin Bieber? He fits what I think Pluto-in-Sag ought to be, though he was born with Pluto at 28 Scorpio, less than 2 degrees from the end, which bears out what astrologers have said for generations, that planets "on the cusp" of the next sign often carry out the themes of that next sign. (I would not allow for more than two degrees for this.) I am still waiting and looking for the Pluto-in-Sagittarius musicians (now 12 through 25 years old) who will define that generation's music. If you know some, please let me know.

This afternoon I was out trying to enjoy the beautiful fall weather while it lasts, and after a while ended up in a restaurant managed by young people in their early twenties. The Pluto-in-Sagittarius generation. I was greeted by an exceedingly cheerful and friendly young man, my server. The music being played as I sipped water and beer was "current" stuff I didn't recognize, a woman wailing sadly sweet or sweetly sad lyrics. After about ten minutes of this the bartender changed the channel to something totally unexpected---lively, bouncy pop songs from the late 1950s and early 1960s. There were many I had heard as a teenager, which was very refreshing. Included were Elvis Presley and Patsy Kline. This went on for a half hour and I was astounded that this old music (wonderful to me) was what they chose to listen to for a while. Then before I left, it went back to some current stuff I didn't recognize.

I think the Pluto-Sagittarius generation will be--yes--bouncy, cheerful, and friendly. Also, religious or philosophical not in a melancholy but an optimistic fashion.

We have been in a Dark (Slow) Hermetic Epoch (Mercury cycle) since September 23. Today the three-week CENTER of that two-month Epoch begins, the Mercury Retrograde period, at 6:05p PT | 9:05p ET | 1:05a(W) UT, lasting until Mercury is again motionless, turning direct on November 3. But the Dark or Slow Epoch continues until November 19.

"A man asleep by the side of money-bags" indicates carelessness.  Not just self-indulgence but duty calls.  Then one might be like "a man mining rock with a pickaxe," -- practical, laborious, honest, and just.  Unimaginative service sustains not only the world but ourselves.

"The open Bible with a sword on it" could be an insignia of Amy Coney Barrett.  Charubel says that this is "a truthful, honest and good person" who will "give righteous judgment."  Yet we might also gravitate to "a large ballroom" where there are "music, dancing and singing on the program."  Mercury at its station (motionless) is sextile Venus, showing that performance arts could be prominent and pleasing.

"A child of about five with a huge shopping bag" may want to get into the previously mentioned money-bags to buy trinkets, or perhaps fulfill harmless expectations of fun through acquiring or giving treasure.  "The gate to the garden of desire," however, is opened by a key the heart holds, sweet sentiments and naïve optimism opening into unlimited friendly prospects.

P. S.  The Mercury Retrograde period has a deserved reputation for slowdowns, delays, and technical problems.  These are unpredictable, so while some things may go on normally, others will trickily seem to resist normality and "go kaflooey."  For example, today I could not print the daily chart on which this forecast is based because the printer refused to print.  It gave sputtering sounds now and then and peculiar messages on the screen.  I tried several tactics to get it going and failed.  Then I just waited and after I had started to write the report from charts on the computer screen, not on paper, it finally printed the chart (or rather four of them when I needed only one).  This sort of thing happens more often during any MR period.  Crazy but true. I am also, as you may see, having trouble with getting the font size right.

Technically, very early hours (time above, before v-of-c) would be the time to settle any pressing business.  It would appear many will feel at a loss, now knowing what to do or where to turn, for not only is there the v-of-c but a very tight T square with sun opposite Mars and both square Jupiter, Pluto, and Saturn!   Crisis!   You may experience this only subjectively, with a feeling that "all is lost" or "what can I possibly do?"  Others, less fortunate, may have a real crisis on their hands:  "A bridge in a broken and dilapidated condition spans over the dry bed of a river."  This is a warning against "working along a false trail."  Projects may seem to fall through.  "A man of tottering and uncertain gait carries water which he spills on the ground."  This could be faulty judgment or indecision.  "How shall he act who does not know what he desires?"

All is not really lost, however, during a v-of-c period.  The harsh aspects might be a stimulus to get us mobilized for something momentous, even if we can only get it in planning stages.  "A cross formed of darts, a barbed determination on each arm" symbolizes "a very positive character, a person of strong will." DJT is forging ahead with a rally in Florida tonight.  "He will never allow anyone to impose on him.  He is ever on the defensive; one with magical abilities."  (Charubel).  You might see how this applies to yourself.  We also have "a place of amusement with music, dancing, and singing on the program."  Well, the Democrats can't sing since they're wearing masks, but this again sounds like a DJT rally.  I would advise him to have music and colorful banners, etc.  (I try to avoid politics, but we're living and breathing it.)

"A crowd upon the beach" presages "unconditioned friendliness" brought to "a point of immediate expression."  There is "a need to release the pyramiding tensions of personality whenever it is held too closely in rein."  (Dr. Jones)  A party during the v-of-c?  There can be "naive assurance and a delight in every possible aspect of human relationship."  "The gate to the garden of desire" is here somewhere, but as previous symbols hint, we may fail to open it, "contemplating things which might be claimed for the self rather than making any real effort to gain them."  Let's have faith in Venus's sextile with Mercury and trine with Uranus, and have a little fun.  (Oh yes, duh, wear mask.)

Pre-Election Hots and Blues . . .

It's the most polarized and mutually hostile election I have ever experienced.  

As for astrology . . . 

One astrologer, a European lady (don't remember which nationality), wrote a long, detailed and well-worked-out piece on Trump and Biden, that is, their horoscopes and "progressions," in The Mountain Astrologer magazine, and concluded that Biden was very very likely to win.  

Another astrologer, whom I knew in New York City in my 20s (he is the same age within a few years), Henry Weingarten, who now runs a service for investors who want to use astrology for timing or other purposes (they pay him big bucks to, presumably, make big bucks), said a month or so ago in an online video interview that he had predicted Trump to win in 2016 (I cannot verify that) and is predicting an even larger Trump win in 2020.

So there you have it:  Two astrologers, both of whom, I suppose, cannot be wrong (unless something unexpected happens).  As for me, I saw in 2016 that the "luck" of Trump and Clinton was very similar and so could not decide, but prudently (!) I went with the consensus of the pollsters and predicted a very close Clinton win.  I was wrong.  (Unless you give me credit for getting the popular vote.)  So much for predicting elections.

There is probably a very good reason why it is impossible. THERE IS FREE WILL ON OUR PLANET!   Astrology is not everything.  Although it seems true that most people "are machines," as Gurdjieff and Ouspensky pointed out, incapable of acting apart from their conditioning, which according to astrologers would include their horoscopes, still some rise above that condition (in my view) and these could be the final arbiters of an election-result, especially when it is very close.  

Even, there are ethical reasons why it might be wrong to predict the outcome of an election.  It could sway voters, in either direction, by pushing more supporters of the underdog to vote, or vice versa (nobody would know which way it could go).  Perhaps G*d has made it impossible to predict election-outcomes because He wants His creatures to have genuine free will.  "You guys decide; I have put it in your hands."  

Enough said.

A more important topic, for most of us:  Confusing indications of the current time-period in our personal lives.  I see that all of our lives are connected in a big way.  The universal patterns are amazingly accurate, in terms of timing, for everyone.  I saw this when I was 10 and I have worked with that hypothesis since then in very intricate research.  That is why I write the daily forecasts, and why I take them as more accurate, for myself and everyone, than forecasts presumably written for a particular individual only.  Of course, this is a big mirror, and everyone looking into it will see a different reflection based on his or her own "chart," makeup, and predilections, yet the mirror itself is the same for all and the colors and lights it reflects modify everyone's individual karma and dharma.  

I cannot encapsulate all of what is going on with planetary aspects and patterns in one report.  But let's focus on the Dark Hermetic Epoch which began September 23 and extends until November 19.  

I've said it before and will say it again, but this time with a consciousness of the current time-frame and other aspects going on.  (I shall not mention them explicitly.)

1.  There is perverse as well as constructive dwelling on the past.  College days.  High school days.  Maybe even pre-school days for those who have such memories.  Is this good?  Maybe.  Bad? Maybe.  Good in most cases, and natural while Mercury is either slow or retrograde.  (Its being either of those is what defines a Dark Hermetic Epoch.)  Go ahead; write your memoirs!  Or visualize memories, ponder old friends, pray for or with them.  Your past is "all good" if you take it in the right manner. 

2.  There are worries about one's worth, or what one has done with one's life.  This is healthy.  The Jews call it Yom Kippur, a Day of Atonement, but this could happen any time, or any or every day, during a Dark Hermetic Epoch (September 23--November 19 this time).  It's a natural time for review and perhaps repentance, or "turning around" and trying to do better in some way.  Is there someone who has left this plane, or whom you can no longer contact, to whom you would like to apologize, and have a nice friendly talk?  Do it, in your consciousness.  Imagination may not be totally imagination!  The departed are not "ghosts" or anything spooky; in their higher soul-consciousness they are immortal, pure, and as perfect as human beings can be.  It is good to be in touch with them, or to imagine the best in them and speak to it.

3.  There can be a feeling of anomie, of loss of touch with "reality" if "reality" is conceived as "just this stuff around me in my house" and so on.  See that this is good, that it is teaching you something about "higher dimensions" into which you might enter, clumsily at first but then with more assurance as you get the knack.

4.  Dreams are good.  If you feel drawn to do so, write them down or record them audibly in the morning or in the middle of the night when you awaken.  We are more closely in touch with our "inner selves" or our subconscious or unconscious during these DHE periods.  

5.  If you want to mourn your lost youth, or years that seem to have gone nowhere, or failings you have demonstrated, or opportunities you have missed, go ahead.  The mourning or whining may be necessary for a while.  Whine just a while.  That is, awakening to what is missing or lost is also awakening to what could happen in the future in a better way.  Insist that there is a future for you, for the demons of the past, though helpful in their own way, could at worst try to pull you way back into resentment or anger or shame to the point of something almost suicidal.  In fact, I have noticed that more suicides occur during these times. That is obviously a misuse of the genius of these periods, which is not "death" but "rebirth."  

6.  Yes, there are "other dimensions."  I shall not try to write about those here, but there are endless "occult" books about such topics.  One of the best is Surviving Death by Leslie Kean.  Perhaps you could be bold to let yourself experience the supernormal.  Perhaps we each do that in our own way, but there never should be anything scary or spooky or upsetting about it.  Faith in the Higher Invisible, that is, Angels for example, saves us from succumbing to fears about the lower invisible, such as demons or devils.  

Enough for now.  This essay supplants a Sunday report on the daily aspects.  Such reports shall begin again on Monday, G*d willing.

"A man on a treadmill" suggests (a) that we may feel oppressed by too many ordinary but necessary things to do (the treadmill) but (b) we may do them efficiently and then be released from the treadmill.  Then we may be ready for "a bag of money on a table, near to which stands a dark woman masked."  Why not just free-associate to this symbol for a minute and see what turns up?  Something you've experienced lately, or in the past?  Sepharial says it shows good fortune in attracting friends and money, but one may not know how to use it and so it could be a source of danger (maybe through the "masked woman"s machinations, if you can discount the sexism there).  One might be naive about others' cupidity and passion.  The keywords "Seductive Fortune" add up to, don't be a victim through unwise use of your resources.  Or, to put a favorable twist on this, maybe the "masked woman" really does need help and you could be generous, with money or otherwise. (But it's good to be more cautious during the 8-hour v-of-c period).  

People may see one another as weak or addictive.  "One man picks up a bottle to drink, while two others avert their faces and gossip or plot against him."    But "a cross enclosed within a circle" shows that one could gravitate toward study of the mysterious, sublime, curious, or revelatory.  Some brilliant insights might come from a bottle, but probably not the most lasting ones.  

With the Part of Fortune in the 10th or uppermost house, we want to be masters of our world, and to have prestige.  "Regalia of scepter and crown on a square block of marble" show force and firmness of character.  You "sway the destinies of others" through naturally occurring rulership.  We're hotly into the election season, so "Two heads looking out and beyond the shadows" ought to be two reasonable heads, one Democrat and one Republican, trying to find reconciling solutions to our woes.  Will Pelosi and Trump ever arrive at a "stimulus relief" compromise?  If they could "look beyond the shadows" of partisan wrangling, maybe.   Meanwhile in our own lives it is wise to "develop stereoscopic powers of comprehension" one way or another, by balancing opposites.  Unity of purpose perhaps depends on the unification of opposites in one way or another.

The "long comet tail" portending baneful things (in the symbol for Mars's current position) is taking various forms.  (In effect from Wednesday the 7th through Saturday the 10th).  I associated it with Communist China, for example, in the two most recent reports, and now it is said that in China the Party silenced (censored) Mike Pence in the broadcast of the debate when he said negative things about China or the CCP.  I seem to have anticipated that, as Cosmic often-accurate Piper.  Then the very next day six or more people were arrested in Michigan for plotting to kidnap the governor of that state!  The "comet's tail" does indeed want to be a "scourge" unless we scuttle its ruthlessness.  For Friday we also have "Two men placed under arrest" in the Sabian system, showing perhaps that both sides (two men) in political controversies are in error and need to be "arrested."  

And what about the outcome? "A man making a futurist drawing" is experimenting with his mind and perceptions to discern trends, and perhaps you could do that.  He is artistic and can detect the "colors of character" in people and point out their flaws, which might make him unpopular in some quarters.  Maybe you have been doing that, or some you know.  

Some, or yourself, might actually explore to find a location which is better for some things you want to do, setting up "the rude framework of a temporary building or shanty."  That means scoping things out, at least.  There's a desire for a safe yet interesting permanent or temporary habitation where hopes can be fulfilled.  "A well-lighted house with open door" is managed by one who is hospitable, open-handed and sincere.  Anyplace can feel like home when we rejoice in the company of friends.

Some to whom you have been good may seem to be treating you shabbily.  Others may be so angry at various matters, such as political ones, that they "stick a dagger into an old door" or attack existing systems in a way which does no one any good.  Some enjoy controversy for its own sake (Mercury opposite Uranus).  There are evils in the world, especially in tyrannically ruled places such as Communist China and Islamic nations (where non-Muslims do not even have legal rights); the question is how to face that and change it however possible in a reasonable manner.  (Links to organizations trying to do that were posted here yesterday.)

Drifting with the stream into low associations and bad habits is avoidable, but there is the temptation.  Some will see others as weak, unable to control addictions.  In other cases, the "dance of life" is charming and harmless, while some assist others to get into the rhythm:  "First dancing instruction."

The "child of about five with a huge shopping bag" is still looking for treats or gifts, and could symbolize a shopping or acquisitive mood (Luna sextile both Venus and Uranus).  Firmly decisive actions in regard to one's home may mix with a restrained desire for travel.  Mercury slowing down (to go retrograde next Tuesday) makes us feel like "a retired sea captain," relaxing into old cherished experiences and their memorable lessons.

As would-be Cosmic Piper (maybe sometimes real Cosmic Piper) I have to point out the warning signals, though I don't like them.  Today we have "A comet with a very long tail pointing toward the earth" and Charubel says that this is "a notorious character who may become an instrument in the hands of evil powers, so as to bring evil on this earth generally, as well as on individuals in particular.  Such persons, if born in a high position, may become the scourge of nations.  Whatever their position, their influence will prove baneful."  I think right away of the Communist Chinese Party, which is (rivaling militant Islam) the worst human rights violator on the planet.  For proof of that, visit https://www.persecution.org/ or https://www.chinaaid.org/ .  I support these two groups monetarily as I can.  Today we have another symbol indicating "a soldier going through his drill" and possibly suffering injury or death.  We need to be on the right side when it comes to human rights, so that we ourselves don't become vulnerable to tyrants such as Xi Jinping.

"A boat landing washed away" is something we seem to suffer during any Dark Hermetic Epoch (this one until November 19) because things are constantly changing and we have to adapt to them.  Or when we become lighthearted we may feel we are on "a merry-go-round," being diverted by this and that, escaping rigid duties when possible and safe.

Pleasures are possible, maybe specially just before or after the void-of-course time given above: "A man and a woman play together, with fruits, flowers and wine on a table beside them."  Yet there may be some holding back or reticence:  "A woman in pastel colors carries a heavy and valuable but veiled load."  She is anchored in her own privacy.

We have a week until Mercury goes retrograde (Tuesday October 13 through Monday November 2).  It would not be superstitious to "batten the hatches" during this coming week, that is, try to make your schedule and planning for the following three weeks (at least) comprehensible and limited.  Limited because we tend to get involved in too much during the MR periods.  "Choose the best and leave the rest" is a good motto.  But also, when you do have extra time, be willing to experiment with new thoughts or interests a little bit.  You will feel these trends beginning already.  Rigid control of limited essentials, combined with relaxed experimentation in "loose" hours, is the right formula.  Not letting one impede the other is the secret.  

Tuesday:  

"A fat pig lying down" is Charubel's slanderous comment upon us.  He allows that we are "free of criminality" but "destitute of ambition" as long as we get our desires fulfilled.  Everything seems just fine, and uneventful (Luna trine Sol), but we ought to "provide for future contingencies."  

"A soldier prepared for battle" is, fortunately, not battling, as shown by Mars now retrograde and moving away from its square with Saturn (though it shall be squaring both Pluto and Jupiter for weeks, well past the election).  Being prepared can prevent trouble.  Disciplined habits would bring efficiency and success.  The avenues of that training are not new, for "circular paths" are inviting us to be thorough in re-experiencing elements of training.  Being true to our own center makes the "paths" of others circle around us advantageously. 

Venus's good aspects with Mercury and Uranus allow for flirtation or a light, joyous spirit of self-indulgence.  "A man walks with two women, their arms linked in his," or the sexes could be reversed in that image.  Duplicity or vacillation do not seem problematic to us when love is involved, yet might be.  Or we might remove the whole erotic imbroglio into higher dimensions, as "a man dreaming of fairies."  Daydreams or  visions enhance one's outlook and one's persuasiveness.

I confess I like the following symbol, because it fits things so well now and oddly makes me feel more comfortable:  "A coal pit, the machinery at a standstill, the whole of the planet in a dilapidated condition."  Doesn't it feel like that?  Even the President is suffering from the virus; the nation's (and the world's) "startup" is "dilapidated," for sure, and so on. There is hardly a business which does not feel like that "dilapidated coal pit."  Yet Mars, fortunately, has moved away from a critical degree (though backward) and will separate from its harsh square with Saturn for a while (November 1 until December 9, technically, though we may feel relief before that).  Venus's good aspects with Uranus and Mercury show a lighter side of things, "A man playing with colored balls, an immodest woman standing behind him."  Playfulness is not always foolishness, though it could degenerate into carelessness (probably during the v-of-c hours). 

I believe part of the "enhanced racial consciousness" phenomenon of recent months (manifesting through the hard process of protests) is shown by Neptune in Pisces, traditionally the sign of the persecuted, while sextile Jupiter.  Despite the occasional violence, there is basic goodwill, shown today by "A colored child playing with white children," the keyword being Intimacy.  Care with monetary transactions or investments is also paying off while we have "an open window and a net curtain blowing into a cornucopia."  This is good fortune, whether earned or a munificent gift of grace.

We are in "a green field surrounded by shrubberies, with a nice villa on the northeast side."  Charubel says this means one has "an adequacy to keep him; and with this he has the disposition to be content."  Possibly something northeast of you will be lucky, but there is no guarantee of that.  Anyway you feel provided for.  "A field of corn standing high and ripe" shows "a useful and successful life" leading to "competence and peace" (Sepharial).

President Trump’s health news brought on, for many, the kind of psychic doom-spiraling that has felt endemic to the era.

Indeed! And only astrology explains this. We entered a Dark Hermetic Epoch, discovered by yours truly, Cosmic Piper, in 1979 and promulgated by him here in this blog since 1999, on September 23. The debate fiasco happened soon after; Trump's infection soon after that. The DHE goes on until November 19.

Perhaps even more importantly, Saturn, Mars and Uranus, the three harshest planets, have been at critical degrees for weeks and continue there because moving so slowly; and Mars and Saturn have been in an almost-exact square for weeks and shall continue so. Any astrologer who does not notice all this is not worth his or her salt. It is a very difficult time.

Further, both Mars and Saturn are in their own signs, strengthening them, the two "malefic" planets according to the ancients. Any astrologer who does not speak and write about this now is just not aware of much of anything, is 3000 years behind. Further, Saturn in Capricorn by its rulership disposes of Pluto and Jupiter. Mars by its rulership disposes of Mercury, then Venus (in Mercury's sign), then the sun (ruled by Venus because in her sign), and the moon directly because it is in Aries as I write and as Trump was diagnosed with Covid. In other words, the two "malefics" dispose of, or dominate and control, all the other planets except Neptune in its own sign Pisces.

Pisces is the sign of prayer. We need it.

I have the task of trying to be a cheerleader yet provide an accurate estimate of what might be going on.  It's hard when things look rather bleak, such as a symbol for today, "A man with a bow in his hand, but no arrow," of which Charubel says "When an opportunity presents itself, he finds himself unable to turn it to advantage."  Of course we have to interpret that as a temporary impairment.  "An out-house with a dark loft to which a ladder conducts the homeless ones" seems bleak, but we are all interdependent in one way or another and need to be willing to accept help as well as give it. 

"Peeping around a corner at a group of armed men who are reconnoitering" suggests secret information and strategy, concurrent with Mercury in Scorpio (detective work) opposite Uranus in Taurus.  There are hidden assets or advantages to discover, or perhaps defenses.  "A fair woman looking at her face in a hand-glass" is self-centered and worldly.  She laughs in the face of fate, and may get away with it if lucky.  

"Miners emerging from a mine" have escaped from their unattractive work, which however develops real strength of personality.  Doggedness of effort is good, so one can carry away the treasure.  If one is learning also to go deeper into one's soul, to rely on deeper allegiances to which one can testify, one lifts on high "a large white cross."  Suffering transcended is transcendental achievement.

It's an intense day, with the very long-lasting Mars-Saturn square emphasized by the moon.  "A coal pit, the machinery at a standstill, the whole of the planet in a dilapidated condition" could show that some things which have outlived their usefulness are a drag on one's energy.  Criminality is pictured, sometimes, by aspects like Mars square both Pluto and Saturn, and we have "a wolf carrying away a lamb." Charubel says this can be "deception, cunning, avarice and cruelty."  I pray daily that such tendencies be eliminated from the human race, and we need to watch ourselves so we don't unconsciously imitate them. 

"A child of about five with a huge shopping bag" expects a lot, while Luna conjoins Mars in Aries, a sign of perpetual youth.  Some trinkets in the bag may be utterly worthless, yet provide an opportunity for broad participation in living potentialities.  If the "child," maturing, has had enough of this, he or she develops the character symbolized by "a man's head."  Personal integrity is personal dignity.  Dismissing trivialities, one envisions emerging opportunities.   

If we rise above harshness, and attune ourselves to a growing trine of Luna with Venus, we may experience "a festival where villagers in gala costume assemble together."  People adapt themselves to convivial friendship even with strangers.  When this has run its course one may be alone again, "undaunted and impassive" as if "a rocky eminence in the midst of a turbulent sea."  Contending forces around you cannot assault your strength and firmness.
