People may resent being parented by someone else, perhaps you; or you may resent being parented by someone. There can be a shakeup of "spiritual teachers" or "financial coaches" or "physical trainers" or "therapists" or "gurus," because one is evaluating their impact and their validity.  (Venus square Jupiter in Scorpio which is the high-focus planet in a vise-shaped chart.)

One can detect injustice and falsehood easily. 

There is an ingenuous quality, "the human soul awaiting opportunity for expression," which can come more easily today than on Sunday for Luna is forming a trine with Venus and sextile with Mars.

The past and thoughts of it need not be an obstacle but rather a support.

The opposition of the sun with Saturn is exact today, tomorrow, and the rest of the week. Delays, too many worries, old things to finish up. But we can do it because it is our karma, destiny or dharma. Aimlessness or laissez-faire drifting would just delay the moment of accounting which might then have to be paid with interest.

 

It is good to be loving and trustful even if one's over-optimistic view of people brings some betrayal or seeming unkindness. The loving and trustful one is the spiritual victor. Even if popularity is ephemeral, one's attitude of benignity wins heavenly approval. 

A true friend or constant lover may not agree with you on everything yet still be true and wonderful.

~From Malaise to Real or Telepathic Company~

The keyword I gave for the once-in-three-years-or-so Venus opposite Mars aspect is Interference. But another keyword for it could be Misunderstanding. People do not see eye to eye, which is one significance of "opposition."  One feels someone's misunderstanding as interference, as it were.

This could be specially true in early hours today while Luna is both void-of-course and in the Via Combusta. It could remain true in the afternoon and evening when it remains in the Via Combusta. This is a loss of morale, often, as "What does all this mean? Is my life going anywhere? Am I living in the wrong place? What about children or young people? I am missing them."  People have their own paths to follow and may feel there is no room for anyone on their path but themselves! That makes for loneliness or despair.  We need to overcome that, however we can, given the prevalence of suicide in the past year or more. Some "light near the end of the tunnel" could come on Saturday. 

There is a desire to travel, yet a sense that this is futile because of financial or other limits, so one may feel imprisoned. Yet there could be considerable beauty in one's environment if one opens oneself to it. Even there could be, for a while, the delight of "children on a swing in a huge oak tree." If this were only memory, even that is something. Observing others happy can be one's own happiness, if one takes the attitude of accepting and owning it.

Antiquity, or something from way back in one's childhood which seems ancient now, could be meaningful and strengthening. 

Even those who seem indolent, as beggars, have something to contribute to one's consciousness in some way or other.

Popularity comes and goes, but even a brief taste of it can be exhilarating. Since it's Friday, one may "throw over" the inhibiting factors I have been mentioning and "go for" some indulgence. "A man and woman are seated at a table where viands and wine are lavishly abundant." If this doesn't work out directly, it could at a distance, for attachments one has formed remain real in consciousness.

I have given the keyword "interference" for the opposition of Venus and Mars, exact right now, and exact on Monday and exact today and tomorrow and still with us a while after that. It was Interference in a big way for me today. I have spent an hour and a half trying to make it possible even for me to write this, with computer problems, Internet problems, weird inexplainable technological problems, not even solved after restarting the computer, though now at least I can write this. It will be brief because the Techno Monster has eaten up the time I had to write it. (The Techno Delay Monster also got a foothold with the sun's growing opposition with Saturn, for Saturn is the planet of delay. "What's your hurry?" he leers. And now I have to restart my astrology program.) 

But we carry on. I do not have time to look at the symbols for the day.

The homicide of XXXTentacion on Monday may seem way in the background of events, for most of us, yet somehow I have seen that it hits a nerve and is a symbol of something important in the universal human consciousness. His latest album, ?, is being listened to more than any other in these days following his death. (Two tracks from it are presented below.)

I gave a mini-interpretation of some aspects of XXX's chart yesterday. Now let's look at what was going on in the sky on Monday. Oh, remarkably, there was another killing (in a drive-by shootout) of another rap star at just about exactly the same hour. 3:57pm Florida time is almost the same as 4:25pm Pennsylvania time (both Eastern) and those were the times of the two shootings. The moon in Virgo was forming a quincunx with Mars in Aquarius, exact within three degrees. That is about the maximum orb I allow for quincunxes in real-time charts. They can show upset, anger of violence when Mars is involved. Once I was sitting in Washington Square Park on the lawn reading a book and someone threw an egg at me. I looked at my charts and the moon was quincunx Mars within minutes of that "attack." 

Mars is in Aquarius, at a critical degree and moving almost not at all, stationary before it turns direct on the 26th, which makes it very powerful by two criteria. That is very significant because Aquarius, in a general mundane way (mundane astrology is the astrology of current events) rules "free brown-blacks" in old lingo (evolved when there was still black slavery) and so has a lot to do with rap stars at the present time, especially because it is Mars (ruling young males) which is in question. 

Now Venus in Leo is opposite that Mars, and moving up to it by less then four degrees at the time of the killings. Venus certainly has a lot to do with XXX, since he was facing serious charges of assault of his girlfriend and other complications. Now I hear that at his memorial service his girlfriend was excluded or pushed away from it. How sad and strange, and yet there was some clash of loyalties and perhaps some sexism with the Venus-opposite Mars aspect which as I said could be a "battle of the sexes" aspect. 

What else? A lot more than I have time to point out here. Mars on Monday was at 8 Aquarius 49, and Uranus in XXX's chart is at 8 Aquarius 23. An exact conjunction of a stationary Mars with XXX's Uranus!  Mars-Uranus aspects are considered by astrologers, and have been since shortly after Herschel's discovery of Uranus (originally called Herschel), violent aspects. Nobody like this but the evidence piles up. Of course, people who have good karma and are trying hard to be responsible generally do not suffer violence when they have Mars-Uranus aspects but experience some other sort of shake-up requiring some readjustment in their lives. 

XXX is also part of a generation which has Uranus in Aquarius, and I discussed that generation months ago after the shootings in Parkland High in Florida when those students with Uranus in Aquarius presented such a strong united front against gun violence. "All is connected" in more amazing ways than non-astrologers could ever realize. Astrology is the science of Formal Cause, a type of causation recognized by Aristotle but never even suspected by most contemporary "scientists" who still, despite advances in "strange physics," cling to the old billiard-ball visualization of causation prevalent in the 16th and 17th centuries. The planets are not billiard balls, and neither are we. 

Uranus means "Independence" according to Marc Edmund Jones. XXX was Independent to an extreme. He shows what can go wrong with that planet, and with Aquarians (he had four planets in the sign including his sun), if Independence becomes belligerence or cruelty. 

But we look to the better always, and humanity is learning how to be Uranian and Aquarian in humane and loving ways, very slowly, with some backtracking as part of the process it seems. XXX was really a sensitive soul and his album could be considered one of confession, repentance and offering to G*d (or deified humanity), even though not overtly or conventionally religious. You will see what I mean if you listen to these two tracks from ? :

We have our hands full. You may have noticed that you get delayed in what you are trying to finish and have to keep at it beyond normal work hours. 

The Grand Trine of Mercury, Jupiter and Neptune is wonderful at some spiritual level, with marvelous dreams and visions and a sense of spiritual security. But the oppositions and squares keep us focused in outer practicalities to complete.

There are dire possibilities, "an execution," but these will be in proportion to one's karma and what one needs to learn. One may become aware of deep problems others have gotten themselves into. There is mercy as well as karma, let us remember, if we invoke it in the right manner (which may depend on one's religious or spiritual orientation). 

One can be deft in performing an art or skill one has developed through "hard knocks." 

The unambitious side of us takes even our ambitions as something to be pursued in a gentle rather than striving manner.

Seduction and persuasion could be arts of deception, or not, or there is craftiness somewhere in others or yourself. But if all that is used in the pursuit of valid loyalties, it becomes a virtue rather than a vice, or we hope so anyway. One has to take a stand for something.

There could be display in a milieu where luxurious habits abound: "A fine chateau, with gardens and terraces. In the foreground a peacock in full feather struts leisurely." Then there is comradeship to the point of perhaps indiscreet frankness, with a shared knowledge of human weakness and character: "Two men seated at a table with beakers of wine before them."

I suppose I ought to warn against going to far in the trends of the previous paragraph, since we are in the |challenging third| period. However, today and tomorrow are the peak of the year, from a solar viewpoint, the Summer Solstice, so some celebration may be appropriate.

P. S.  I have to say something about the surprising death by homicide of XXXTentacion, whose birth name was Jahseh Onfroy. It happened Monday afternoon in Florida. He was only 20 and was a rising star in the world of current music. His birthdate is January 23, 1998. He was an Aquarian, and a powerful one, with not only the sun there but Mars, Jupiter and Uranus, the sign's ruler. Very powerful. And I might say dangerous, because male Aquarians have a propensity either to violence or to being fascinated by violence. Perhaps they want to cure violence in others, yet become involved in it in trying to cure it; or perhaps they perpetrate it in the name of love, as in "You always hurt the one you love." Aquarian males can be, sometimes, sadists looking for masochists, even if they do not realize that about themselves. So it was with Jahseh, or XXXTentacion, for he had been in a juvenile detention center and later, as his career was blossoming, faced charges of assaulting, strangling and imprisoning his girl friend. Yet his music, which I listened to today, is sensitive, often, and shows signs of spiritual yearning in its unconventional manner. He was a good soul, I believe, whose horoscope, because of his past lives, was one requiring enormous self-management and development of awareness in order to avoid tragedy.  This is shown by a number of indications, including the moon conjoined to Pluto, with both of them squaring the Jupiter-Mars conjunction in Aquarius! His bundle-shaped chart, with all the planets within the defining trine of moon and Saturn in fire signs, shows insistence and self-intentness, like a gyroscope spinning on its own axis. Not much room for compromise there, nor in the absence of water signs. Years ago I read a long description of a youth who had no planets in water signs and no one including his parents could understand his lack of ordinary human kindness. However, Jahseh or XXXTEntacion could have overcome that because someone with the lack of one element can spend a large part of his life trying to overcome that lack, as doubtless he was doing with his girlfriend, in an errant or amoral or perhaps simply wrong manner. Also his songs seem to express his attempt to "become human" or develop the sympathy and humanity of the water signs. His chart has genius possibilities and it is sad that he did not remain in incarnation long enough to polish them fully.

\Pressures Met with Kindly Superiority/

Oh how I would love to say every day "Beautiful day! Take off from work and go to the beach! No worries! All is well and the world is your oyster and harmony and love are our gift from the gods!"

I want to say it but I am an astrologer who has observed what actually happens during all the kinds of daily aspects I have been able to observe for several decades, so I have to be "realistic" which I hope does not have to be a synonym of gloomy or grouchy. 

Anyway, with the sun and Mercury both opposite Saturn by the orb I have carefully worked out over the decades, and Venus opposite Mars by normal orb (it happens only once every two to three years, around the time when Mars turns retrograde as he will on the 26th), we do have our work to do and our tensions to resolve. "Interference" is a term for Venus opposite Mars; yet we have the same term in football, "to run interference," suggesting that one does not have to be a victim of it. So we are "running interference" now to prevent something or someone or ourselves from being tackled or defeated. 

There is also the simply slow, patient work detailed by the sun moving to its annual opposition with Saturn over the next couple of weeks. Yes, there is the beach, yet we do have that slow patient work to accomplish also. I hope that being aware of this will make it easier to "tackle" it and get it out of the way so one can also enjoy the good weather or other benefits summer brings.

The longest days of the year at the Summer Solstice (exact late on the 20th and early on the 21st) are wonderful. We might "latch onto them" in experience, memory and muse; to "hold them" to ourselves as a promise of immortal life and unending glorious light-filled consciousness of beatitude.  

Tuesday: It is good to be kind rather than cruel when correcting someone. Punishment doesn't work but making someone aware of problems caused by wrong behavior can work. 

One gains surety through "the constellations in the sky" and summer evenings are great times to see them. What does not change grants surety to our changeable, variable lives.

To remain contented while facing and fielding pressures is a key to rising beyond them and living in a way whereby they cannot hurt one but strengthen one. 

We have our dreams and hopes but there is doubt and change, and we are tempted to succumb to that, thinking that nothing is worth doing ultimately. That is a trend toward suicide, which can begin internally before performed externally. We need to stop that at its roots through faith and hope. In what? In what you have found yourself able to trust immortally.

It helps to see others dramatize what we believe, and we help them by dramatizing our faith in true living. Then we do not just feel superior egoistically but can rise to a level where we actually are superior to travails and worries. You have your own scepter within the field of life wherein you are a central figure. Through moral courage your superiority is innocent and harmless, and you are a true friend, acting from the heart as much as from the head.

\Aspiration Within Fruitful Contentment/

There should be good luck in the immediate neighborhood, and allso through co-workers.

I like Charubel's symbol for the sun's degree: "A baronial mansion with spacious park abounding with gigantic trees." Yet he does not emphasize the luxuriousness of the scene but says it indicates a student of antiquity, a profound scholar. Read a book in a park or expansive yard?

Yet the generations mingle: "An old-fashioned woman and an up-to-date girl." The contrasts do not detract from but enhance each other.

An easy approach to life, following the routine of ordinary work, could be peaceful and contenting.

Again from Signor Borelli we have "A large and well cultivated tract of land." Maybe a good day to be outdoors. Sepharial says it indicates Fruitfulness.

The more virile part of the day centers in the opposition of Mars and Venus. This is not necessarily "the war of the sexes" but could border on it. There could be prowess and deeds of daring. People are trying to dramatize their virtues, skills, and courageousness. If not direct conflict, it is an attempt to rise above restrictions.

"A round temple with pointed roof" is still with us, for the final day. We have been searching into our spiritual foundations. Perhaps you have been very conscious of the outward things you do to stay linked with the Best: rituals, altars, temples, churches, synagogues, uplifting groups, or just photos of what inspires you or books of inspiration and the like.

Answer to Question about Void-of-Course

Nan, I'm surprised that you haven't noticed the thousands of words I have written about this and posted here, almost every time there is a void of course. I try to explain it somewhat differently each time based on other aspects also. 

But in general: Things are unusual, for good or bad. There is no absolute formula for what to do. Watch these times carefully to figure out how to use them. 

We want freedom during these times! So we may drop usual schedules and try something novel. Will that help or hurt? It could go either way. 

Generally If you want to schedule a meeting or conference or negotiating session, it could be a bad time for that. People may not know what they really want. They might agree to something and then back out. 

Also, trying something new, if you want it to be long lasting or have a future, could be futile. Example: I set up an Instagram account a week ago on a day the moon was void of course all day. I thought, good time to try something novel and it doesn't matter if it fails. Well, it was wonderful for a few days; I had 17 followers out of nowhere. Then one day the account was gone. I tried recovering it multiple ways and with different browsers but nothing worked. I set up another account on another v of c day and it is still there but I have only two followers and feel it to be a waste of my time. This is one thing that can happen in v of c. 

But it can be good for (a) routine things which rarely go wrong and (b) outre, out of bounds things you want to try for the sheer fun of it (but probably not roller coaster rides). I am writing this during a v of course period on Friday in a bar, but I am very sober! Thanks for the question, Nan.

P. S.  Another example: on Friday Luna was void of course almost all day. I was very angry about a situation and wanted to write an angry letter. But remembering the v of c I restrained myself. Now I am seeing better ways to go about it, after the moon has entered Leo. Knowing of the v of c saved me from a possible disaster.

Quarrelsomeness or irritability is possible while the moon opposes Mars all day. That would accentuate Mercury opposite Saturn which is mental stress, or a need to study or organize things competently. Moon in Leo is good for a youthful feeling and some joie de vivre. Still, its squares with Uranus and Jupiter suggest disagreements to be harmonized however possible.

Your home space, or a homey space elsewhere, may be specially comfortable and fashionable, with mirrors and art objects prominent. There is a boost of morale in dressing well and letting one's imposing appearance speak for itself (rather than being self-conscious about it). 

To be relatively unambitious along some lines allows one to be "ambitious" spiritually, which is learning how to be content with divine grace under all circumstances. There could be contests between those who are stubborn and willful, each side convinced it is right. Sometimes people seek revenge subconsciously if not consciously. So to be "above the battle" is a bulwark of freedom from strife. 

We dramatize the positions we have taken in politics, religion, or other sorts of loyalties. To be a keen observer, while diplomatic and suave, is to win out over opponents circumspectly.

"Children playing around five mounds of sand" is a relaxing, liberating symbol. Naivete is a gift of the gods to those natively naive and pure, instinctively scorning or dismissing profound intellectual or moral doubts in a childlike manner while yet manifesting instinctive morality and respect for others.

~Wrapping Up Effort Before Contented Wandering~

The |difficult or challenging third| of this week, as reported here, was exact on Thursday at 11:10a PT. At 11:20 I heard downstairs a neighbor who is usually not at home making loud noises, shouting at someone, and slamming a door. This is typical of behavior at such a time, though it is usually suppressed. 

Today, Friday, we are free of the |challenging third| after the time given above, but the moon is void-of-course. Of the two, I prefer the latter! It is okay for a Friday when people are trying to wind down and free themselves from some tasks anyway.  Those tasks, this week, may have been onerous for most of us. Mercury opposite Saturn has been with us and remains exact today and tomorrow. It can be distrust, a depressed mood, and difficult working conditions. It requires us to "face what is." 

Capabilities may feel greater than opportunities to express them fully. Decisions in regard to home, appearance, and health may seem pressing but one could finesse them in some subtle way, rather than make a mistake later regretted, while the moon is v-of-c. 

One might feel rather content doing really routine things, which are almost a comfort because they require no special change or decision. Close and patient study of "an old book," or anything with cultural importance in your life, could be helpful. 

One feels proud of some heritage or tradition which one is doing one's best to uphold, and feels like dramatizing it for someone to admire. 

But then there is a less admirable trend to "an unfledged condition of the mind" or "moral turpitude." Does wandering make one "inconsequent and unreliable" as Sepharial suggests? Or could some physical and mental wandering be restorative while the moon is v-of-c? 

We are warned against heedlessness or laziness, in the figure of a lazy bear being stung by a swarm of bees. Not pleasant, but maybe before indulging in the freedoms we love we should make a little extra push to get important things done. (Dear Prudence . . . )

~Facing It, We See It Get Better~

It is exact today at 11:10a PT | 2:10p ET | 6:10p UT

That means the most difficult 24 hours of this week might extend from 11:10p Wednesday PT (and the others as above) until 11:10p Thursday PT (and the other zones as above), that is, 12 hours on either side of exactitude. 

However, I am feeling it already on Wednesday as I write, as a sense of futility and weariness and "What's the use?" It is my willpower which is writing this forecast.

Venus square Uranus, exact today and Friday, is one of the hardest aspects for interpersonal relationships. It can be abrupt breaks. It can also be abrupt thrilling attractions followed by dubious separations. That stunning, thrilling person is your fascination or amour, for a while, but can it last? Maybe we need to give up feeling that it has to last; to "let it go." Then it has a chance of returning in good time. 

Venus opposite Mars, increasing toward exactness on the 20th, and then remaining for another week at least, is a hard one also for relationships. It is a sense of "interference." How is someone "interfering" with your own pattern, or you with hers or his?  "You really ought to do as I say" can be the subconscious feeling even if things are restrained into calm on the surface.

There are fine sensibilities and quick intelligence (Mercury sextile Uranus). There could also be a desire to avoid experience, to escape through feigned illness--"An epidemic of mumps." The mumps may be real but in the past they offered a way to get out of school for a day or two! 

A lack of ambition is all right if it is real contentment and willingness to wait for things to develop at their own pace. It could be some happy relaxation into friendship which is honest, sympathetic, and maybe even persuasive. Yet that may be transient, "a touch of friendship amid indifferent crowds" (Sri Aurobindo). 

At worst there might be vindictive pride. "I am right; you are wrong; please get out of my way." Yet after that one might wonder if one's own opinion or position is right after all, and wander from place to place physically or mentally as if weak, contemplating various possibilities.

Perhaps the need to choose and act is really paramount and we need to face that. (I don't like to say it because I shrink from what it might imply in my own case.) Drifting or being indolent as escape from life's stresses and disagreements is very tempting, but could mean we just delay the moment of reckoning, making it more bitter than it needs to be.

There is a need to overcome despondency by summoning up moral courage. This is often true around a New Moon time but specially today because of oppositions and squares: Venus opposite Mars, Venus square Uranus, and Mars square Jupiter. It's intensity which could be depressing only because it summons us to challenges.

We can invoke loyalty to our groups or causes, as "Daughters of the American Revolution" symbolically. We need to stand for something.

Being content with one's lot can be bliss, a relaxation from striving. Yet too much indolence could result in desertion and abandonment. So one needs to be content with whatever keeps one mildly or wisely active in the community or family. 

We dramatize what we believe in by giving or sharing. That does not negate freedom and daring, as guided by intuitive judgment and insight into character.

Rites or rituals, or personal spiritual disciplines or sadhanas, may be essential: "A round temple with pointed roof." Round to be all-encompassing, yet pointed to purpose. Or a building important to you may be your "temple" if you use it as such or think of it as such.

Some long-range aspects which will be with us for a while:

Mercury opposite Saturn, ability to concentrate mentally, to get things done at a level requiring vigilance and hard, complete details.

Venus opposite Mars, hard times between the sexes or in any relationship. A desire to interfere with someone else, or their desire to interfere with you. 

These are "on the table" to be dealt with as best you can, and learn through the experience.

Tuesday:  One's nobility and greatness of soul may be frustrated by the low level of humanity at the present time.  You weigh things, testing their value, feeling despair when you have to face someone's unreasonableness or quirkiness causing problems. But when you arrive at and insist on true values things have a chance to get better.

At one level you may feel unambitious, content with things as they are. No one can make the crops grow faster. 

There is beauty and kindness in Nature and in souls touched by it toward geniality and a winning disposition, or peace and concord.

"A flag turned into an eagle" is strangely prescient of what may happen in Singapore between Trump and Kim Jong-un.  Both leaders are strong nationalists. Either flag could turn into an eagle and fly away; or both could find some sort of concord and dramatize it at least in some minor agreement or plan for the future. 

There is enforced restraint, in order to avoid peril, and some may feel that enemies are secretly approaching them. I do not have an immediate prescription for solving that but you can find an answer somehow in your soul. (Some believe that there are external forces trying to tempt us away from goodness and ultimately destroy the human race. Others believe that the "evil" is only in our own attitudes. I do not discuss that here, but whatever may be true, we need to be aware of internal or external dangers.)

Religious feelings, expressed in some sort of ritual, even if only a mental ritual such as prayers, hymns, and spiritual reading, can help all of us. A place where such activities can take place may be significant.

\Harmony Being Reanimated/

We proceed from a grand trine, during most of May and early June, to a lot of squares and oppositions. Stress, difficulty, a need to meet problems without upset. 

We struggle on through the darkness. It is harder to find compatibility among differing groups, races, and temperaments, but we have to try. "A modern Pocahontas" suggests the attempt at a deal between differing natural types, as between Trump and Kim Jong-un. 

The principles of astrology would help. How can people understand one another without a knowledge of their birth charts? It is impossible. (However, someone without a knowledge of when he was born could work with astrology in novel ways and still steer his destiny wisely. In essence I am doing that with these daily forecasts, for they apply to all regardless of time or month of birth.)

Being indifferent to fate's twists and turns is sometimes wise. It can go wrong when one becomes careless or reckless, leading a dependent life. The higher "indifference" is vairagya in Hindu terms, a poise above the constant interweaving of the "qualities" such as these difficult astrological aspects we are experiencing now. That does not mean laziness.

The impact of "beautifully gowned wax figures" is with us as appreciation of beauty or of striking personality. Ultimately there can be harmony through devotion to the Good and Its natural forces. (Luna moving to a sextile with Venus helps.) Then we sense what to do at each moment in harmony with the All. We do not lose out through carelessness yet do not feel hassled or hurried.
